This and That

Here's what's new and exciting around these parts lately.

1.  I found an 8-pack of fun sized Butterfingers in the refrigerator yesterday.  They lasted for approximately .08 seconds.  Oh, the carnage!  But it's okay, because I'm supposed to eat 500 extra calories a day since young Charles feeds off of me for 25 hours/day, and I'm pretty sure that my doctor wants those extra calories to come from Butterfingers.  (Oreos will suffice.)

2. My grandparents and aunt are visiting this weekend!  Horray!  I can't wait to see them and hang out with them and introduce them to Chucky.

3.  I actually took a shower today!

4.  Morning Joe.  Matt and I are officially old and boring, and we have a favorite morning talk show.  We actually record it in case we're not awake at 6:00 a.m. to see it live.  Chaz tries his hardest to ensure, however, that we are awake to see it live.  He's so considerate!

5.  I go back to work on Monday!  I'm so excited.  I love little Carlos, but seriously, I was not made to be a stay-at-home-mom.  I know that returning to work will present its own challenges and difficulties, but I can't wait to put on real clothes and shoes, and to do something other than sit around the house all day.  Plus, I only have like a month of work and then it's summer break.  I can do anything for a month.

6.  Exciting in babyland?  Charlie has a new cousin, Penelope!  Get outta here with her cuteness and her, as Hugh put it, Michael Bluth hair.

7.  I want to make this cake.

8.  JMU onesie on a cute baby.  For serious.

9.  Gang signs.

He's kind of a badass.

Wal-Mart Feet

Thursday was the first time that I'd worn shoes in three weeks. I'm not barefoot girl or anything, but I had worn only flip flops for 21 whole days. It was wonderful. Of course, the no shoes/few showers combination took my already ugly feet and made them look like they belonged to a 75-year old barefoot mountain man who spends his days walking around the dirtiest Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart feet. Dirty, rough, calloused, peeling Wal-Mart feet.

Per the recommendations from friends, I indulged, and purchased one of these babies. It was kind of hard to make the decision as to which cheese-grater-like-foot-smoothing device I should use, but I ended up choosing the Dr. Scholl's one because 1.) It has the name doctor in it, so it must be safe (just like Dr. Pepper!) and 2.) because it was pretty pink.

I had to file my gross Wal-Mart feet for a good long while, but I am happy to share that after the hours of filing (and collecting gross shredded foot skin in the little catcher), I had nice, pretty girl feet. Matt says that I no longer have Wal-Mart feet. Now I have Fresh Market feet! Fresh Market feet! Horray!

I wish to celebrate by purchasing sassy shoes. Kudos to Cassie and Christina, who both won in life when they wrote to inform me that the gorgeous turquoise shoes from the last post are from designer Christian Louboutin and can be mine for the low price of $625!

Now there's just the small task of convincing Matt that I can buy them with all of the money I'll be saving on pedicures.

It's a good thing you're cute, dog.

It's a good thing [for the dog] that his ears and little dog expressions melt my heart. Otherwise, Mitch would be back at the pound. Allow me to share with you an experience from the last few days. . .

1. Mandy sees a flea on Mitch.
2. Mandy decides to put flea medicine on Mitch.
3. Mandy opens the dog medicine drawer.
4. Mitch bolts.
5. Mandy corners Mitch in the bedroom, and applies medicine to the back of his little dog neck while he sits on the bed.
6. Mitch spends the next 3 minutes trying to rid himself of flea medicine by flopping around on the bed, rubbing the back of his neck all over the sheets.
7. Mandy thinks nothing of this.
8. Mandy is also really bad about showering daily.
9. Mandy goes to bed.
10. Mandy wakes up with rash all over her arm.
11. Mandy thinks nothing of this, other than about how much it itches.
12. Mandy does nothing [but scratch].
13. Mandy goes to bed again, having not showered that day.
14. Mandy wakes up with a rash that has spread all up and down her arm, and must wait tables with said rash.
15. Dammit.
16. Mandy realizes that rash is most likely a result of the flea medicine that is labeled with approximately 1 million warnings.
17. Mandy finally takes a shower.
18. Rash is starting to go away.
19. F'ing dog gave me a rash! Now I'm dirty rash girl!
20. Maybe this (like the sunburn I got last summer that made my face swell and my eyes turn squinty made me wear sunscreen) will actually make me see the value in showering daily.

Matt, Mandy, and Miley go to Tybee.

Today was the first official Matt and Mandy Monday Funday of the summer. We--along with what seemed like half of Savannah--headed out to Tybee for the afternoon. What we did not realize was that Miley Cyrus would be filming her latest movie about 100 yards from us. (Matt claimed not to know, but I've seen all of the Hannah Montana recordings on our DVR, so I think I know what's up.) There were hordes of people trying to catch a glimpse of Miley. We, however, preferred to focus on these babies. I kept catching them with my toes.

Then the boys played bocce ball. Matt says I should add that he won.

And drank lots of beer.

We sat under our new umbrella and read.

Although we didn't really care about the Miley excitement, it was pretty cool to listen to the director shouting throughout the afternoon: "Background! Action!"
Below: if you look really, really closely, you'll see Miley. Not really, but that is where they were filming the movie.

Right now I've had my post-beach shower, I changed the sheets on the bed (no more dog dirt!), and I'm gearing up for another day of fun. We're celebrating our second wedding anniversary tomorrow!
