Another Wonderful Weekend!

What is it about this time of year that creates such lovely weekends?  And lovely weeks.  And lovely days.  Even the rainy days have been fantastic lately.

Maybe it's because there are only five more weeks of school, or maybe it's because we've had glorious weather since February, or maybe it's because I actually got my ass on the new elliptical and I'm on an exercise endorphin high, but I've been happy as a lark lately.

My belly is full but not too full, and my skin is just a tiny bit sunburned but not too sunburned.  The house is mostly clean, the cabinets are all organized, and the hydrangeas are blooming.

Sorry to be so saccharine.  I'll probably be grouchy sometime soon and I'll let you in on all of that, too.

Anyway, here's what our weekend looked like.

Dogs and laundry.  Lots and lots of laundry.

Made another cake.  Just like the one from last weekend.  Made it because I was jonesin' for more cake.
Then I forgot to get a piece.  Guess I need to make another cake.

Went to a baby shower for a very lucky, very fashionable baby.

Summertime means fireworks.  The dogs are not so wild about the booms.

Went to a Sand Gnats game.  Naked.

Tried to be seductive.

But did not succeed.

Did succeed, however, at being creepy.

Planted the vines that were going crazy.

Got jealous because my friend Sam was in England during the royal wedding.

Smiled every time I saw these flowers.

Watched my boyfriend do an interview on the TV.

So yeah, to sum up:  I am annoyingly happy.  So happy right now that I think I'm in for some very cranky moods in the near future.  Watch out, Matt.  And, also, the world.

This and That

1. Bought tickets to go visit Grandma Carol and Grandpa B in Albuquerque before their big move to Florida! I'll be visiting in mid-April, and am excited to head out west. Any Albuquerque recommendations you'd like to share?

2. My brother said a while back that if he was a teacher, he'd have the kids call him Mr. E. Say it out loud. Isn't that awesome? I think Matt should become a teacher so that the kids can call him Mr. F, a la Arrested Development.

3. I'm too fat for words right now. Before long I'll have to start buying special shoes, because regular shoes will no longer be able to support my weight. And I'll just get a circus tent to wear to school. Ugh. Someone go get me a sandwich!

4. Because of the fatness, I'm trying to be a little more healthy with home snackin'. So tonight I'll be making Mandy's Famous Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream, except that it'll be Mandy's Famous Blueberry Cheesecake Frozen Yogurt. I'll let you know how that turns out.

5. Mitch loves to lie under the blankets and sheets when they come out of the dryer.

6. My dad put his kid brother in the dryer and turned it on when they were kids. Needless to say, my uncle is a little nutty.
7. The art club at school was making buttons. Naturally, I had them make one out of the best silhouette of all time. Aren't you jealous?

8. I have a new favorite whiny boy band: Noah and the Whale. This also means that I have a new favorite Pandora station. What's your favorite Pandora station?

9. Tried yesterday to convince my students that Jesus had come down from heaven to inhabit my body and to keep an eye on them. Even though I reached out my arms and let my hair down and addressed them as "my children," they didn't buy it. Kids these days are so smart!

10. In need of some sage advice? Don't keep toothpicks in your pocket.

There you have it! I'm off to enjoy a productive night of cleaning, laundry, ellipting, and paper grading. If everything goes according to plan, the only thing I'll need to do this weekend is lie on a blanket in the sunshine.

Happy almost weekend!

Mitchouette

Brace yourself, because you're about to see something that rivals the porcelain roller skate for the title of greatest thing of all time.

Last week I posted about how obsessed I've become with Fire Hydrant Press on Etsy.  After communicating with the shopkeeper (Is that what you call people who have Etsy shops?  If not, it should be.) about American Dingo/Husky silhouettes, I realized that there didn't exist a stock photo that looked exactly like my little Mitchell, my dog dream come true, the E.T. to my Elliott.

Except that this would never happen because Mitch hates bicycles.

So I decided to go the route of the custom silhouette, where I could send in a picture of Mitch that she would use to create the silhouette.

I sent in this picture (taken the day I found a special surprise on the picnic table).

And she made this.
And I love it with my heart and with my soul.

What do you think?  Do you kind of want to steal this image and put it on a tshirt?  Or a tote bag?
